RACE DAY

The tenth annual one lunger race was a great success.  The weather was beautiful, the snow conditions terrible.  Everyone was having a great time (except for that one lady i saw chewing out her husband because she did not want to get her feet muddy).  By 9 am we had about 90 sleds, trailers, and drivers in the pits.  By noon the pits were turning into a human and one lunger mud run.  There is something about marching around in the mud that brings the kid out of me and I found myself chuckling to myself as i slipped and slided around.   This was one of the most interesting years I have had the pleasure of experiencing.  The weather and track conditions were a little hard on some of the riders and their equipment.  I thought the track was a little more forgiving then it had been in past years. But what do I know, I am a ringside spectator and not a racer.    I know for sure there is one young lady who is going to be a  sore for the next couple of days.  Her sled and her dad are in rough shape too.  Oh well they have 12 months to get ready to do it again.  Sometimes people forget that this is about getting together to have fun and do a little racing no matter where in the pack you are.  It is hard to believe that this all got started by a couple guys who pulled some old sleds out of their barns and sheds to have a little fun.  Some of them are still out there after 10 years, it would be cool to get an idea of how long people have been running this race and how many second generation riders there are out there.  Let us know how long you have been at it.  Maybe I can find myself an sst 433 snow jet (my first real sled) and race in the twin?? Ten laps sounds better than the 50 to 100 some of those guys did yesterday.

this was my first race, it was a blast, could have had a atv mud run , but it was awesome, alot of modified sleds should be in a class by themselves to be fair, thats how money wins races and takes the little guy out of the running, but i am already getting the sled fixed up for next year and have many friends who went and are now looking for a sled for next year, ever thought of making a series out of this 3 race series 1 a month maybe, during the winter, start things off in the fall with a fall cookout and gathering?

We tryed a swap meet a couple of years ago, only about 30 people showed up.
I take over a month off from work just for this once a year race. I don’t have it in me for more than one. Thanks for the positive comments, it keeps me wanting to continue being Race Director. TRR President, Ed Morris…

I spoke with Eddie last night. He is going to be getting the official scorring from the outside company that was hired to score the race any day now. Hope to have it on the website soon.

The race was one of the best I’ve seen and the work the club puts into it is very impressive. I’ve been attending for several years and have always had a great time.

Thanks and hope to see you all next year!!!!!
