One Lunger Up-Date 2-19-10

Yes the race is still on. As of Friday night we have over 90 sleds signed up for the main event , but only 40 sleds will make it to the money race. The qualifying heats should start up around 10am. The track conditions  are a hard base with snow cover on it. The front stretch got quite a bit of sun this week, by the end of the main event the sleds will probably be in the mud. The back stretch should hold up very well.

Ware your rubber boots, the mud is about 2 inches deep in the late afternoon. The parking lot is bare field, we will have plenty of equipment  to take care of the traffic leaving in the afternoon. Hope everyone has a good time, it should be a grate  show! TRR President, Ed Morris…

One Lunger update 2-12-2010

As of today Friday Feb. 12th the race is still on! We have snow piled up in the field next to the track. We all decided to leave it in piles so it will not melt as fast. Practice day is still on but there is only a hard base to practice on. Looking at the 7 day forecast it will be getting colder next week and around Wednesday  we will lay down the snow and groom it every night .The One Lunger Staff will be at the track this Saturday for practice day. We will have burgers and dogs on the grill and answer any questions. Check in for further udates. Thanks for all the support ,TRR president, Ed Morris…

Meeting notes Jan 11, 2010

Here is  a quick debrefing of last nights meeting

  • There was good attendance and we all introduced ourselves because there was several new members attending.
  • It was nice to see several members bring their kids, they can get an understanding of how much work good trails take.
  • We need an older sled to raffle off,  inexpensive or donated would  be nice.
  • Help is needed next Sunday at 9 am, one lunger track cleaning up some brush. Please help.
  • Trail signs are   needed on the two new rerouted trails (sandy bottom and lower street) people are getting confused and looking for the old trails.  Pay attention to the signs because the trails have changed.
  • Groomers need to contact Butch to go over routes to make sure we are not wasting money overlapping grooming.
  • If you have any club equipment contact Punch or Butch, they would like to start an inventory and number system for equip.
  • Attend the town budget meeting this Wend at 7 pm and express how you would like to see the registration fees designated for the club deposited in the clubs coffers.
  • I am working on the web site.  Eddie is getting updated registration forms very soon.  Comment on the blogs, give me something to write about.
  • Practice for one lunger race Feg 13th  Several $50.00 prices will be raffled at the drivers meeting for those who pre register.  This is in celebration of our 10th year.
  • Dance tickets are selling fast.  Save a couple bucks and buy them early.  Better yet buy 8 and they will reserve a table for you.  Landslide is a great dance band.  Get out and dance.  Bring some appetizers for the pot luck appetizer extravaganza.
  • I will be contacting the local eateries to get the Thursday night supper ride going.  Watch the blog for dates.  We are only going to ride to restaurants that support our club.
  • Traveling supper is slated for Feb 30th, only two stops this year.
  • P.S. I found the loop trail, You can too, buy a local map for $2:00 It is clearly laid out and a great family ride.

If you ride the trails please join the club.  If we are your patrons Please join the club.  If you read this please comment.

Most importantly GET OUT AND RIDE!  HAPPY TRAILS!

April 2009 Turner Ridge Riders MSA Snowmobile Club New

www.TurnerRidgeRiders.com

Hello Everyone. Happy April!

The days are longer, mud season is upon us, and the sun feels nice and warm on our face; which means the end of the 2009 snowmobile season for Turner, Maine.

Please be careful on lakes, ponds and rivers, no matter where you’re riding! We want to see you safe and riding again next year.

The One Lunger Race on February 21st was a huge success. We’d like to thank everyone who attended and all of the sponsors of the Race. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to have this great family event. Find them on our website and thank them by doing business with them. Results from the “A”, “B” & the “Twin” races are posted on our website blog. We have 2009 Race DVD’s available for sale along with club apparel. Buy your souvenirs now before they are all gone. Contact club President, Ed Morris by email at: president@turnerridgeriders.com to make arrangements.

The winner of the 1972 vintage Ski-doo 640 TNT raffled at the One Lunger Race was Scott Glenn from Wells Maine. Congratulations! We are now in the market for another vintage sled to raffle for next year. Know of one? Give us a shout-out. This year, a monetary gift from this event will be donated to Turner Rescue as well as The Pine Tree Camp of Maine. Donations and/or volunteering to any organization are worth while causes. Would you consider helping an organization?

Our annual Trailside Bonfire and Cookout was well attended with about 30 snowmobilers. The weather was nice even though we had a small rain shower. A great time was had by all.

Want to be in a local club that does weekly evening rides, has family events and helps organizations like the Pine Tree Camp? Give us a call and join. A new member for our club means new ideas, new enthusiasm, greater fellowship and greater service.

We want to thank all the landowners that make snowmobiling possible for the State of Maine.

We would especially like to thank the Turner landowners for making our trail system possible by having our annual Turner Landowner Supper at the BQMC Hall on Route 219 on April 5th at 5pm.

In closing, we’d like to thank our supporting business partners in the Turner Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club. Find them on the back of the MSA publication.

If you are still riding snowmobile trails somewhere, Please ride safe and ride responsibly.
