Grooming Report 1-21-10

Groomed the trail from Turner Ctr. to the Turner Plaza Wednesday night. Watch out for the water holes, i filled them in but the water was still running under the snow. Russ has the power line in good shape from the Nezinscot River north. Lets see how the snow makes it after the rain on sunday. Ride safe, Ed Morris TRR President..

Out for a ride

I guess I did not get out on Sunday after the storm.  Waited a little to long to clean my driveway and it was like trying to throw peanut butter with a snowblower.  I figured I would get stuck in the soup anyway.  Couldn’t do anything on Monday or Tuesday either.  Bummer I got a new (used) sled sitting in the yard and haven’t been able to use it until tonight.  Pat (Butch) Jalbert told me the trails were great on Monday night except for the one spot that his daughter buried the yamaha in a water feature.  That reminded me of the night I had to call him out early in December a couple of years ago.  My daughter and I were buried in a bog out by Torrey hill.  I asked her to toss me my 18 volt flashlight next thing I know I catch it with my face, my eye swells shut and I am bleeding all over the place. thank god Butch was home.  All it took was one more guy to get us out of the hole and Jalbert came to the rescue.  Any way remember to bring a cell phone with you and make sure you have a friend who can come to the rescue.  Butch got rescued by a friendly guy who lived by orchard way, he could see them out his living room window.  I wish he would have called me so I could repay the favor, oh well another time.   Anyway I got out tonight left my house headed across rt 4 and to the Pleasant pond bypass trail.  It was a little rough but improved after I crossed Pleasant pond road.  Headed to shreps and got some fuel, decided to head over to the plaza and discovered a big wash out, it looks like it had been crossed alot but I was alone at night, fealt a tinge in that broken cheek bone, turned around and headed home.  The new Yamaha went great four stroke has a ton of torque.  Happy trails.

North end game preserve grooming report

1-16-09 Went out friday night and groomed from the north end of the game preserves park and ride to the the second pine then to the cove, the trail is in excellent shape. then went down the badland trail to center bridge road which is in pretty good shape, all water spots are in in great condition this year. then proceeded to shrepp’s ,which could use alittle more snow on this trail but still not to bad and with the storm on sunday thats bringing 8″ to 12′ of snow should really help that trail out.

(click on link above!! Little tune to get you started.)

Trail work in North Turner has been in full swing.  Special thanks to Herb and Donny for their time and help.  We have been working hard to fill all the water holes on the Pleasant Pond Bypass trail,  The water holes have been filled with pine brows and covered over with snow.   For those of you that do not like crossing the lake.  A little more snow and the North Turner trails will be groomed with A blazer.

You can also access Pleasant pond via the bypass trail which you can jump on the pond at the boat launch.

Pleasant pond trail. the bypass trail, the hood trail and the plaza trail all good to go.

Take Notice! when riding North Turner .  Logging is in full swing. Loggers on the back side of Pleasant Pond, loggers working out on the Hood trail, and also loggers are working in and around Caldwell field.  Please take caution in Caldwell field a road has been plowed .  The trails are still accessible, and a little more snow the trails will be groomed to perfection.
