End of Season Ride
Posted by DLABBE in Uncategorized on March 14th, 2010
Many of you may have parked your sleds for the season, and for good reason. Riding in Turner got over in a hurry. To bad it was nice when we had it. I want to let you all know there is still hope. I just got back from a three day trip to Jackman and the riding was excellent. There is some logging on 89 heading south out of town and you may have to ride through a half mile of logging roads in the mud and slush if you leave from town, but the reward was awesome. You can ride down to Eustis and stop in at bulldog camps for gas and lunch. We also headed north out of town across Big wood lake and up the boarder trail across to Pitston Farms have lunch gas up again and explore. I never have been off trail riding, it is awesome, the snow is perfectly packed down and you can go just about anywhere, it was a blast. We did have one skidoo mishap, but no injuries resulted from the mysterious event, and the sled made it through with a broken windshield. There is 3 to 4 feet of snow in the Mountains, better hurry cause the warm days are melting it fast.
RACE DAY
Posted by DLABBE in Uncategorized on February 21st, 2010
The tenth annual one lunger race was a great success. The weather was beautiful, the snow conditions terrible. Everyone was having a great time (except for that one lady i saw chewing out her husband because she did not want to get her feet muddy). By 9 am we had about 90 sleds, trailers, and drivers in the pits. By noon the pits were turning into a human and one lunger mud run. There is something about marching around in the mud that brings the kid out of me and I found myself chuckling to myself as i slipped and slided around. This was one of the most interesting years I have had the pleasure of experiencing. The weather and track conditions were a little hard on some of the riders and their equipment. I thought the track was a little more forgiving then it had been in past years. But what do I know, I am a ringside spectator and not a racer. I know for sure there is one young lady who is going to be a sore for the next couple of days. Her sled and her dad are in rough shape too. Oh well they have 12 months to get ready to do it again. Sometimes people forget that this is about getting together to have fun and do a little racing no matter where in the pack you are. It is hard to believe that this all got started by a couple guys who pulled some old sleds out of their barns and sheds to have a little fun. Some of them are still out there after 10 years, it would be cool to get an idea of how long people have been running this race and how many second generation riders there are out there. Let us know how long you have been at it. Maybe I can find myself an sst 433 snow jet (my first real sled) and race in the twin?? Ten laps sounds better than the 50 to 100 some of those guys did yesterday.

Did you see bill green advertising the one lunger race on the news? Rumer has it that he got to try one out and flipped it over a couple times. Too bad the film crew didnt catch that one. Perhaps you noticed that they ran a couple laps for him and there was grass comming up through the race course. No need to worry it is getting taken care of. The race officials are hard at work getting the track ready. The parking lot needed to be plowed to get ready for next week. The snow from the parking lot is going to be pushed, pulled, dragged and dumped onto the race track. So get ready to race! See you there.
P.S. has anybody been out riding? where is the snow?

First THE 2010 RACE is at IT’S ORIGINAL LOCATION AT TURNER CTR.
Practice day is Saturday Feb. 13th, 10Am to 2Pm. Free unlimited use. “Tailgater’s Welcomed”
We will be assigning numbers to you when you pre-register. You will provide your own numbers to go on both sides of your sled.
These numbers must be on a white background 10” by 10” and the numbers must
be red in color and 8” by 3 ½” each in size. These have to be on your sled before you go to
“Sled Tech”. We have reserved your number from last year so you may request that same
number when you pre-register only. Write the number on the entry form and circle it.
We really encourage you to pre-register, we don’t have the time to process a lot of registrations
In the morning of the race. RACE DAY ENTRY FEE IS $65.00 and you will barley have time to register, get a number, put it
on your sled and then go through “ Sled Tech”. We will be more thorough this year in “sled Tech”
So expect it to take more time.
If by some chance you can’t pre-register, then please arrive early and be ready to register at The Registration Trailer.
WE HAVE A CUT OFF TIME 9 O’clock SHARP IF YOU DON’T MAKE IT YOU WON’T BE ALLOWED TO RACE ,NO EXCEPTIONS!! .
All racers and sleds including 120’s,Powder Puff and Twin Cylinders need to check in at “sled Tech” to verify you have
paid and to make sure the sled is safe to race. After you have successfully passed Tech you will get a starting position.
If you do not have a number one will be issued, but it may be toward a week from race day.
Please use separate forms for other races, you can use the same number (120,powder puff and twin)
Don’t forget to sign the Waiver as well for all sleds signed up to race.
The rules are pretty clear and we have tried to be fair. As in other racing events the rules
are always pushed to the limit, please stay within them. We will be checking more in
“sled Tech” to keep this to a minimum. If you finish in the top five and are found in violation
of a rule after the race you will lose that position. Our goal is to have fun for the racers, fans
and the sport.
**At the end of the Main Event Race all sleds will exit the track and be detained in a sectioned off area just off track.
If the sled is called up for Tec inspection and is not in the sectioned off area it will be disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS!*
Added for our tenth year, TRR will be giving out additional prize money!!
Details will be revealed at the drivers meeting, race day.
We will be enforcing the tether switch rule, it must work before, during and after
the race so make sure it is secured. This is a safety rule and is very important. You
will be disqualified if it doesn’t work. NO EXCPTIONS.

Sunday Ride
Posted by DLABBE in Uncategorized on January 10th, 2010
What a day! Left Bear Pond at 8 am headed over to Pleasant Pond. Met Pat on the pond. Headed south got onto badlands trail, headed to lower street, met up with three more riders. Two came over from Green and reported the river was safe to cross, not many tracks under the bridge but good coming across. One of the three was a newbie with a big Pantera. Hit the game preserve and it was mint!! Didn’T have my heated shield hooked up yet so I couldn’t see very well when the sun was in my face. Headed North Back across Pleasant Pond stopped at the house and hooked up the heated shield. Skipped over to Bear Pond Store (caution in the bog headed over to bear pond we broke through a little throttle down and you will be fine) Bear Pond was ok the trail to the store was a little rough, had breakfast / lunch and headed south again. This time we crossed Harlow Hill and headed down the West side of route 4. The trail was nice only one deep water hole. Met Russ? grooming the power lines, Nice Nice job Power lines were mint. Made a short loop by Youlys crossed route 4 dropped the three off on lower street and headed north again. By the way the newbie is hooked hard. Headed north again, ran into Eddie Grooming the race track. They got the trailer in place and the sign. Nice job Eddie. You are hard worker and dedicated to the club. Ok looking for comments on the loop trail should there be a long loop and a short loop?? Does anyone know where the loop is now? My comment is 8 years ago when I moved here and started snowmobiling the loop trail kept me on track, I had no clue where I was most of the time but I new if I was on the loop trail I would be able to make it back home. What do think?? P.S. where was everybody today?? Get out and ride!

From the President: Ed Morris
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Not much to talk about this month until snow arrives.
Daren Labbe is getting to know the Web Site, it should be up and running now. Thanks Daren.
Trail work is in full swing, we are meeting at Youlie’s Sunday’s at 8AM.
If you have a grooming route try to get out and do an inspection. If using an ATV it is a good idea to go out in the mornings when the ground is frozen, you will not rut up the land. Once again stop and stop ahead signs are a must and try to use sign posts instead of trees.
We will be forming a One Lunger committee if interested show up at December’s club meeting to find out when and where. This event is a big fund raiser to the club any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support TRR President Ed Morris
TRR Activities Lisa Walton,
Saturday night January 16th at the BQMC come celebrate TRR’s 40th anniversary. Dance to the band Landslide B.Y.O.B. We haven’t decided if there will be a dinner before the dance, stay tuned more info next month.
There will be a few trailside cook-out’s this winter, right now Ed knows of 3 brush piles that need to be burned.
This years One Lunger Race will be Sat. February 20th.
The Super Raffel drawing is Dec 15th Ed still has some tickets. Anyone interested in going with Ed to the night of the drawing give him a call at 754-2725 to make reservations.
Trail Master Butch Keene,
We have been busy re-decking bridges and clearing trails.
The trail behind Sandy Bottom Pond is closed, Ed and I need to meet with the landowner to try and keep the trail, and there is no good way around it. The land owner closed the trail this summer due to unwanted ATV traffic.
If you need trail signs see me at the meetings and I will get them to you.
